This is a newly formed role, created due to a significant and dedicated initiative for Maternity at the Trust. The Director of Midwifery is a strategic position; focused on the improvement of system and services, horizon scanning, proactivity in responding to external reviews, guiding the division to success and building a strong network within the Maternity discipline/world. The post holder will strategically and innovatively lead the division and will work in close partnership with Director of Midwiferies across Northwest London with the aim of bringing best practice, improvement and tactical focus for planning across the system at LNWUHT.

The Director of Midwifery will be visible and accessible working alongside the Divisional Clinical Director for Women's and Children’s Services sharing the highest quality practice and new developments, ensuring the service is well-informed and at the forefront of innovation. The successful applicant will purposefully and ambitiously develop a strong leadership presence in the unit forming strong bonds with the staff and evidencing compassionate leadership. The post holder will be pivotal to ensuring the direct delivery of clinical care is safe, timely and compassionate, leading a consistent and standardised approach across the organisation to delivery and achievement of NHS Resolution Safety Actions, Supporting CNST recommendations and implementation of national maternity initiatives. As well as Maternity Services this post also provides clinical leadership for our gynaecology service and nurses.

We are looking for an inspirational, determined leader and Senior Midwife with a progressive mindset, who has a successful track record of improving and developing services. You will be accustomed to and excited by working within a diverse community that has pockets of deprivation and will oversee the delivery of maternity services across the boroughs of Brent, Ealing and Harrow. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to have an immediate impact in a newly created post, to take ownership of the function, by delivering care for our women and birthing individuals.

You will have significant experience and understanding of safeguarding, governance, and responding tactically to the many reviews and providing solutions. Your excellent relationship management and networking skills will mean you build credibility and respect quickly, and can foster strong alliances across and outside an organisation. Importantly, you will bring a passion for improving the population’s health and well-being and keep the Trust abreast of the future.
